Boxies for 'The Big Boss of the Bin'
A playful activity kit about food waste.
With the educational action package VuilnisBakBazen (The Big Boss of the Bin) from the Municipality of The Hague, pupils discover in an interactive way what food waste is and what they themselves can do to reduce it.
Play your way to an empty bin
Participants receive a bin full of (fake) products and a bamboo Boxie. The goal is to empty the entire bin together with your class or family through play!
Talking bananas!
By scanning food products with a Boxie, the items in the bin come to life.
Through quiz questions and assignments, you learn more about their origin, shelf life, and how to deal with food more sustainably. Each time you complete a question or assignment, you may remove the product from the bin.

Ages
VuilnisBakBazen is suitable for children aged 6 to 12. The difficulty level of the questions is indicated with different colored stickers, so the game can be used appropriately for different age groups.
Structure
VuilnisBakBazen is a flexible game that can be used as a standalone classroom activity within themes such as sustainability, nutrition, and citizenship.
The game includes clear instructions that allow pupils to get started independently, in small groups, or together as a class with the teacher. As a concluding activity, the class prepares a tasty recipe together using products that might otherwise have been thrown away!
