Familietour in het Zuiderzeemuseum
Tellmie Marretje takes the whole family on a journey through the Schathuys.
Fifteen Marretjes take families on an educational audio tour through the Schathuys at the Zuiderzee Museum. Along the way, they discover the permanent collection and learn all about the work of a museum curator.

Curator Marretje
During the tour, families are introduced to the work of a museum curator in an accessible and playful way. What exactly does a curator do in a museum, and why is their work so important?
Marretje has just started her new job as the world’s very first seagull curator. So on her first day, she could definitely use a little help.
The tour was created with support from the science festival Expeditie Next.
Different age groups
There are two versions of the tour: one for families with children aged 4 to 8, and one for children aged 8 to 12.
For younger children, the texts are shorter and simpler. The version for older children explores the curator’s profession in more depth and also includes an exciting extra storyline about a missing animal.

Showmies
At two points along the tour, the surroundings also come to life with a Showmie. The wooden lion on the stairs talks back to Marretje, while the two little dogs in a painting turn out to have quite a lot to say as well.
Multilingual
The tours are available in Dutch, English and German, so international families can head out on an adventure with Marretje too!
Glasses…
In each gallery, Marretje starts talking when you stroke her head near her glasses. After all, she can’t see a thing without them.
Beacons are hidden behind the glasses icons. This allows the Tellmie to know exactly where it is in the museum.
Because visitors activate the audio themselves with a gentle stroke, rather than having it start automatically, they have more control over when Marretje begins to speak. This works particularly well in smaller spaces and during busy periods.

The Marretjes were made by Marinka van de Voort using a special, durable upholstery fabric.
