Showmies in The Chocolate Factory
Invisible, yet essential for a smooth and personalized visitor experience.
With more than a hundred Showmies behind the scenes, visitors to The Chocolate Factory will feel like a real Charlie. Behind the scenes? Everything is under control!
For The Chocolate Factory together with Kiss the Frog we developed a smart and scalable hardware solution that forms the basis for an interactive visitor experience. An indispensable part of this are our Showmies: a compact, powerful unit with NFC reader, display and speaker, specially designed for installations that demand connectivity, reliability and experience.
Smart technology for a smooth visitor experience
Every visitor receives an RFID wristband upon entry, which they use to travel around the plant and complete interactive missions. The Showmie recognises the wristband and stores your progress and links to the underlying system. This creates an intuitive experience.

Green light? Start the game!
- You scan your wristband at a station.
- The Showmie establishes a link with the backend system.
- You start a game session.
- Your name appears on the screen.
- The Showmie speaker plays a recognisable login sound.
- The Showmie switches the signal tower to green with its built-in relay.
- Let’s play!
Technical teamwork
Experios, Kiss the Frog’s back-end platform, provides behind-the-scenes data processing. It links scores, choices and creations to the right visitor. It also controls access through the gates and regulates visitor flows on busy days.
The Showmie works closely with Experios and the ticketing system, making everything work in real time – from check-in to final product.
Oompa Loompa’s…
The Showmies are largely invisible, but make an important contribution to the overall visitor experience. Kind of like Oompa Loompa’s: you only see them when you look behind the scenes 😉
So you can feel like a real Charlie: operate machines yourself, discover the production process step by step and make something tasty yourself!
