Boijmans’ children’s committee advised the management that there should be a robot tour guide to show families around the museum. Promptly we were called to see if we could play a role in this with our Tellmies. Well and truly! Together with the children’s board, we made a pilot tour through May 2019 of four paintings of the collection with our ‘robot dogs’.

The Tellmies lie obediently on the blue desk waiting to be allowed to get to work.

The children of the Children’s Board christened the dogs Kate and Buddy, chose the artworks, wrote the texts, devised the questions and voiced the dogs’ voices. All incredibly professional! We made sure the dogs were programmed properly and could take a beating. And voila, Kate and Buddy could be employed by the museum.

After a successful pilot, we are thinking together with the museum about a continuation of these ‘robot tours’.

The little dogs get an average of 9 from visitors! However, they do find the tour much too short with only four paintings. And visitors would like to see more fluffy tour guides in the museum. Ape…- eh- …doggie proud that we are!

The tour could be booked by visitors via the Boijmans website from February to May 2019.
