NT2 families (families who speak Dutch as a second language) team up with Tellmie Luna to find all her children hidden in the youth section. This is how you get to know the library in a playful way!

Warm welcome

If you want to learn a new language, the library is a handy place to get to know! The New Library Almere and FlevoMeer Library Dronten are therefore running a pilot in which a multilingual Tellmie offers families a playful and warm welcome.

Find all the children

Tellmie Luna recently moved into the library with all her children. They are hidden somewhere in the youth section. Can you find them all?

Comics, picture books and more

With each child, you’ll hear a bit more about the department and do a short assignment. That way you will get to know the library better! In the English tour, you will also discover some real, tricky Dutch words like “vrachtwagen” and “gezellig”.

Cat and Fox

In Almere, Luna is a cat. Dronten chose a fox, because foxes are common in the Dronten area. The tours are otherwise identical in terms of voice, number of stops and sections covered.

Multilingual

To provide a warm welcome, Luna speaks several languages: Dutch and English, but also Polish, Turkish and Modern Arabic. Kilke van Buren gave Luna her Dutch and English voice. Using AI, we got Kilke to speak the other languages as well.

Furware

We designed the furware in such a way that it could be a cat in Almere and a fox in Dronten, without major implications for fitting all equipment. The body of both is the same (but of different fabric) and the head is different.

Ine Keitz helped us again to turn them into two super cute animals!

Of course, all Tellmies in this project are again made of second-hand fabrics!

Hardware

We also chose a simpler way to build in the hardware. Everything hardware is in one module that we can “slide” into the Tellmie.

This is invisible on the outside, but super handy for maintenance and updates!
